As Christians around the world prepare to celebrate the 2,000th anniversary of Jesus’ resurrection in 2033, a striking trend has emerged. In both Jordan and Israel, significant investments are being made in sites associated with Jesus’ baptism. What if Muslims and Jews were, without realizing it, inviting us to take this historic milestone seriously as well?

Gathered at the “Val de Paix” center in Rawdon, Christians from various church traditions responded to JC2033’s invitation to reflect together on the unity of the Church as the two-thousandth anniversary of Christ’s resurrection approaches. Through lectures, workshops, times of prayer, and fraternal discussions, participants explored the biblical, spiritual, and missionary foundations of Christian unity. The speakers emphasized that this unity is neither a human project nor a mere cooperation among churches, but a response to Christ’s prayer and a work of the Holy Spirit in which Christians collaborate. These days thus provided a space for encounter and listening as we journey together toward 2033.

At the heart of the JC2033 USA-CANADA gathering in Val de Paix, Quebec, on June 12, 2026, Christian witness was the subject of in-depth reflection. From May 14 to 16, 2026, Burtigny, in the canton of Vaud, hosted the international JC2033 Ambassadors’ Meeting. Leaders from nineteen countries gathered there to share their experiences, discern the movement’s next steps, and deepen their understanding of the three pillars that form its DNA: unity, witness, and celebration. The experiences of Dave Drum, Olivier Fleury, and Pierre-André Léchot shed light on these preparations for the 2,000th anniversary of Christ’s resurrection.
